This guide explains how to:


How to Log In:
  1. At "Language Exchange" Gateway Page, select "BLOGS/PODCASTING" link.

  2. Enter Username and Password and press the "Login" button. You will be taken to the "Dashboard" page, the homepage for your blogs.

How To Post a New Topic:
  1. To post a new topic to a particular blog, find the name of the blog and click on the name.

  2. You should now arrived at new post page. Fill in the title and type your first paragraph in the top box. If you have more than one paragraph, use the second box for the rest. (hint: you might want to use a wordprocessing software to write first, then copy and paste into this blog system.)

  3. To publish your post, press the "Blog this!" button at the bottom left part of the page.

  4. To view the blog, press the "Rice LRC" button at the top left part of the screen.

How To Post a Picture from the Web:
  1. Log into your blog account (see instructions above)
  2. From the "Dashboard" page, find the name of the blog you want to add a picture from the web and click on the name.

  3. In another window, find image you want to add in your web browser.
  4. Copy the image address:
    On a PC (w/ Internet Explorer): On a Mac (w/ Safari):
    Right click on the image you want to add. Select "Properties". rightclick Right click the image and select "Copy Image Address"
    (To right-click, press CTRL while pressing mouse button)

    Highlight the Address (URL) and copy the address (press CTRL+C), then press "OK" button.

  5. Return to the browser window with your blog. Press the "Insert/Modify Image" button (button w/ painting of a mountain) in the textbox where you want to place an image.

  6. In the window that pops up, paste image address in "Image URL" (click the text box and press CTRL+V or Apple+V)
    Enter a title for picture in "Alternate text" text box.
    Press "OK"

  7. The image should appear in the blog text box. To post the image, press the "Blog this!" button at the bottom of the window.


How To Post a Picture from your computer:
Note: In order to post a picture from your computer, you must make an album on the blog.
If you already have an album, skip the first section.
  1. How to Create an Album:
    1. From the dashboard screen, click on the blog where you want to post a picture.
    2. Click on the "Resource Center" button.

    3. Click the "New Album" link.

    4. Enter Album name, album description, then press "Add" button.

  2. How to add photos to album:
    1. From the dashboard screen, click on the blog where you want to post a picture.
    2. Click on the "Resource Center" button.

    4. Click the browse button.

    5. Navigate to the file you want to upload, select it, and press "Open"

    6. Enter a description of your file, select the album to which you want to add your picture, then press "Add" button.

  3. How to put a picture in your album on your blog post.
    1. From the dashboard screen, click on the blog where you want to post a picture.
    2. To post a new topic to a particular blog, find the name of the blog and click on the name.

    3. You should now arrived at new post page. Enter the name of the blog post. Select the text box you want to add the picture to by clicking the text box. Then press the button above the text box with a picture of a document.

    4. Click on the name of the album that contains the picture you want to post.

    5. Find the picture you want to post and select the adjoining "Add preview" button.

    6. Your picture will show up in the text box. Select the "Blog this!" button at the bottom of the page to post your picture.
    7. To view your post, press the "Rice LRC" button at the top left of the page.
