How to create a quick podcast with Wimba.

 

  1. Go to LRC Blog. (http://syllable.rice.edu/LangEx_07_08/BLOGS/)

 

  1. Log in.  Click on the blog name.  If you are signed up for multiple blogs, then choose the blog where you want to post this podcasting.

 

 

  1. Click on the ÒResource CenterÓ link from the top menu.

 

  1. Click on ÒNew ResourceÓ link.

 

 

  1. Click Use Wimba to record.  A pop up window will come up with Wimba recorder.  Please be patient, this may take a while.  When you get prompted with JAVA make sure to accept/click RUN/click YES/click TRUST.

 

  1. Once Wimba applet is loaded, click on the record button to record.

 

 

  1. The pause button will pause your recording and the stop button will stop your recording.

 

  1. Once you stop the recording you can listen to your recording by using play button.

 

 

  1. Use ÒSave AsÓ feature under the time codes, to save your recording in mp3 format.

 

 

  1. Give this file a unique name like ÒAssignmentName_YourUserName.mp3Ó.  If you are doing this in LRC, make sure to save it in the temp directory, not on the desktop.

 

 

  1. Once saved, close the Wimba pop up window.

 

  1. Back in New Resources page, click on the browse button and select the recording you just made.

 

 

 

  1. Give a description of your recording.

 

  1. Choose the album with your name attached. .  If your folder does not exist, create a new folder with your name. (use New Album tab)

 

 

  1. Click Add button. 

 

  1. Now your recording is saved in the resources album.

 

 

  1. Click Manage from the top menu.

 

  1. Click New Post.

 

  1. State topic

 

 

  1. Type some text. 

 

  1. While the cursor is in the text area, click on Insert Resources button.

 

 

 

  1. Locate the resource you would like to add.

 

 

  1. Click on Add Resource button to add it to your blog.

 

  1. Click on Blog This to publish.
